Mythmaker 03:49
MYTHMAKER We’ve got our darkened glasses, cheap and plastic For to stare straight at the sun Icarus has us convinced That he might be the chosen one Taste for danger, fear of failure Yeah, we dull our knives on this Rolling rocks and talking talk About a smiling Sisyphus Wrap your wings around me Pull me down against your kiss Hear the poets cry out: “It wasn’t supposed to end like this” Weights and measures, wax and feathers Yeah, it all comes down to this Toeing edges, wondering whether We have got ourselves convinced Though the poets insist on making myth Of those that dare to take a stand Fortune favours the bold and brazen Those that reach out for her hand Wrap your wings around me Pull me down against your kiss Hear the poets cry out: “It wasn’t supposed to end like this” A love unanointed A love sharp and swift A love unbeholden to the makers of myth A love deep and dangerous we cannot resist No fear that our hearts will be punished for this

PARCHED AND BROKEN We are children Children walking Arm in arm Towards the shore Down the valley They called a cradle When rivers ran here In days of yore And our mothers Walk beside us In robes of yellow Green and gold They speak of shadows Underwater That will soothe our Weary souls Blessed corners Of the empire That are still lapped By the tide Dessert blooms And soil weakens As water’s lifted To the skies Once the skies have Drawn up the water All of the water In the world So our bodies Parched and broken Will be lifted Heavenward We are children Children walking Arm in arm Towards the shore Down the valley They called a cradle When rivers ran here In days of yore And when we’re pulled down Beneath the water And are cooled right To our core We’ll watch our mothers Swim beneath us In robes of yellow Green and gold
